The Veiled Rebecca is a marble sculpture created by the Italian sculptor Giovanni Maria Benzoni in 19th Century.
It depicts a scene from Hebrew Bible when a modest Rebecca covers herself with veil while meeting her future husband Issac son of Abraham.
Veiled figures, usually carved from marble creates an illusion of obscuring a face or body part behind fabric.
Veiled women were popular sculptural motif among Benzoni and his peers during 19th Century Italy.
Benzoni’s workshop created a number of copies of The Veiled Rebecca.
